Apparently, rigid diet plans and specific meal recipes can get people going -- but not long enough to maintain the lifestyle. After having followed such commercial diets, these people gain back all the weight they lost after returning to their normal not-so-healthy way of living. This is most likely linked to the fact that people find it more difficult to adjust their daily routines and eating habits to an entirely different schedule and menu. Also, those who opt to follow rigid diets have more issues on their dedication to weight loss than those who decide to take matters into their own hands.

On the other hand, people who choose to lose weight on their own and make their own modifications in their diets are more likely to maintain healthy weight in the long run. This is because the lifestyle modifications are employed by their own will and therefore are a lot simpler to follow and maintain.

An excellent, cheap weight loss idea: Stop looking for a commercial diet that works for you. Stop scouting for alien recipes you have to prepare three times a day (because otherwise the diet won't work). Instead, learn a few weight loss ideas and try to slowly incorporate them into your lifestyle. Make it your own; there's no reason for it not to work.
